Glan-type polarizers offer excellent extinction ratios (>10⁵) but have limited acceptance angles. For high-power laser applications, Glan-Taylor designs handle higher peak powers than Glan-Thompson. Film polarizers are more economical for low-power applications. Consider the clear aperture — the usable beam diameter is typically smaller than the housing diameter.
