How to Specify

When requesting a quote for waveplates, providing the following information helps us give you an accurate quotation:

Type
Zero-order or multi-order
Material
Substrate crystal type
Wavelength
Design wavelength
Aperture
Clear aperture diameter
Retardance
Phase retardance tolerance
Quantity
Number of pieces

Engineering Considerations

Zero-order waveplates provide wavelength-independent retardance over a broader range but are more fragile. Multi-order waveplates are more durable but highly wavelength-sensitive. For broadband applications, achromatic waveplates (compound designs) maintain retardance across a wider spectral range. Temperature changes affect retardance — specify the operating temperature range.
